The Significance Foundation is a Section 501(c)(3) Public Charity that sponsors Donor-Advised Funds (DAF). It was formed in 1999 by doctors and dentists dedicated to advancing philanthropic causes. Current efforts focus largely on faith-based and educational charities, human-services and health-related causes.
The Significance Foundation offers philanthropic programs providing donors the opportunity to maximize the effects of the charitable efforts through collaboration and incubation of efforts consistent with their personal philanthropic goals. In doing so, the Foundation realizes the true potential of a DAF as a less expensive, less cumbersome alternative to a private foundation, while offering immediate and greater tax deductions, a range of asset investment options and a higher degree of privacy surrounding a donor’s generosity.
Whereas private foundations necessitate an average initial gift exceeding $2 million, the Significance Foundation requires a minimum opening donation of only $5000. In addition, administrative fees are low, in keeping with the Foundation’s desire to attract as wide a roster of donors as possible. However, the low fees do not represent the depth and breadth of personal services offered by the Significance Foundation. The Foundation’s Donor Collaboratives are intrinsically designed to make a Donor-Advised Fund grow through the combined efforts of like-minded donors.
The Significance Foundation’s interest in extending its embedded charitable programs to donors is matched by its enthusiasm to incubate new charities. The Significance Foundation recognizes the ever changing global climate and the impact those changes have on the needs of our society. Donors wishing to expand the Foundation’s portfolio of supported causes are encouraged to discuss their ideas with the Foundation and, together, we can foster a new charity.
